I just wrote a long review and lost all of it because I accidentally clicked on one of the photos I had in my editor. This is the second time it happened and I can't restore my data. What a waste of time.
What's the hardest part about the role you play in your family?
The hardest part is being the big brother and having to leave home for my Uni. I have a little sister whom I'm very close to and when I leave again in two months she's going to miss me every single day for a year or so until I am back for another few months.
I have recently discovered iStockPhoto, a service acquired by Getty Images that is today one of the hottest markets for illustrators and animators. With determination and hard work I could make an income by drawing illustrations and at the same time I could advance in skills and grow.
Wikipedia on iStockPhotos: "the world's fastest growing collection of original, independent, royalty-free images."
First thing I have to do is draw a few good illustrations and qualify to become an illustrator on iStockPhoto. Once that is over, I will have to create a library of works and constantly upload illustrations for sale. One day someone will notice my skill, hire me and make me rich and famous... joking.
I wanted to share this with you, I have great ideas for this and really hope it works out.
I've been asked to do a CD illustrational cover design in Pop style for a Korean band that's just about to releas their first album. This is just the first idea and I will change it around a lot before we release it. The keywords for this image are: worship, pop and communication. Hands represent Worship, Christians often put their hands up when they sing to God. The Pop style is expressed by color, shapes, sky and typography. Communication is expressed by the textbox in the center. Pretty basic, I'm expecting to change quite a few things soon and write a follow-up. Thanks for reading through my blog.
If you want to be an author you need to start writing. You can't be a writer unless you write. Start writing and don't mind what you are going to write about, the truth is, you have it inside of you and at some point sooner or later it will come out. If writing is one of your strengths, than you need to start giving your time to develop it. Give yourself chances to fail a lot before you create anything valuable.
One thing I constantly struggle with is perfectionism and waiting for all the things to be perfect before I start moving. Today I trace my perfectionism back to fear of failure, because that's what perfectionism in my life is all about, I have to be honest with myself. There where times in my life when I said that I'm a perfectionist with a certain pride, as if it was a guarantee for quality - today, I think of ways to escape it so I can get some work done. You might say that I am talking about lowering our standards, and I think this is not so. There is a term in psychology called "flow", and it says it is the mental state of operation in which the person is fully immersed in what he or she is by a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity. A state of flow is achieved when challenge is matched by skill. When the challenge is too much greater then the skill, we tend to procrastinate because it causes fear. On the other hand, when our skill is too much greater than the challenge - we tend to get bored. Interestingly enough boredom and fear are the two most common (at least for me) causes for procrastination. And guess what, If I set my expectations a little lower at first just to get started, I am more likely to meet my high standards in the process.
The Bible in Ecclesiastes 10:18 says that "through idleness of hands the house leaks".
